HoCo Hayduke: Money...it's a gas
Hayduke's perspective on Larry Carson's article this morning. I will say again, the real story is "How much do our elected officials interfere in the established processes in the Department of Planning and Zoning?"

RE: The extent of politicians' influence on DPZ.
A lot? A little? I think the worst part about this is that we'll never know; indeed, we have no way of knowing. We've got to remember, however, that while politicians may be influencing DPZ, so are developers, citizens, and other interested parties--all to varying degrees.
This is why, more than anything, transparency is important. Even if we can't "see" everything, an "open" government allows us to see enough of it to know when something doesn't look quite right.
I am talking about more direct involvement than that. Yes, I am suggesting something nefarious.
Well, who stood the most to gain from the comp lite zoning changes? If you know that then you can cross reference contributions. If you find any matches and can line them up by proximity by date to comp lite it would be an interesting analysis to present.
