General Assembly Member Rankings

With the 2006 elections on everyone’s mind and the legislative session fully under way, The Gazette is continuing its quadrennial tradition of ranking the members of the General Assembly. Things have changed.
From the list four years ago, seven of the top 10 lawmakers are gone: Theyeither lost re-election bids (Barbara A. Hoffman, Robert R. Neall, Casper R.Taylor Jr.), moved on to other government jobs (U.S. Rep. Christopher Van HollenJr. and Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp), left the legislature all together (John AdamsHurson) or died (Howard P. Rawlings).

Unfortunatley for Robey the 9th most effective State Senator is:
Sandra B. Schrader - (R-Dist. 13) of Columbia
Points: 41
Judges’ comments: ‘‘Getting high marks from both GOPers and Dems — Ehrlich would be smart to add her to his ticket.”
Honorable mention
Edward J. Kasemeyer (D-Dist. 12) of Columbia narrowly missed the cut. The chamber’s point man on slots, pensions and the capital budget quietly dominates his chamber.
House of Delegates
None of our esteemed members made the Top 20 list. However, their is a bottom 20 list.

(D-Dist. 13) of Columbia
Points: 92 points
