Catholic School Math

Interesting positions on the County Council vote on Tax Assessments and Robey's reaction. Apparantly Ken Ulman agrees with the County Executive that this is irresponsible.

Howard officials approve cut in property tax assessment cap, by Larry Carson

A 1% decrease in the cap resulting in a $3.8M tax cut and the Republicans are now irresponsible.

Doesn't the County have a $20M surplus? If my Catholic School math is correct $3.8M plus $9M (Robey's proposed property tax decrease) = $12.8M leaving the county a $7.3M surplus which is more than enough to cover the $6M earmarked for the rainy day fund.

Do you know what I am going to do with my $46.00? I am going to buy my kid a new pair of school shoes - no kidding.

Mr. Keelan,
Don't forget that our resident elected Liberals know how to spend your money better than you do! Robey and Ulman don't want you to be able to buy new shoes for your kid - they want pay increases and IPOD broadcasts on the county website. How insensitive of you to want to keep your money!
