Ken Ulman's Curriculum Vitae
Sorry to have missed the forum on Saturday as reported in the Baltimore Sun. Sounds like a real hoot 'n holler.

The fur was flying - so Mr. Larry Carson seems to imply.
I supposed Larry hit all the highlights. I wasn't there so I don't know.
What struck me about the article was the exchange on management and executive experience.
Ken Ulman manages one person and, seemingly on the defensive, retorted "in fact, you're a lobbyist." Don't you think one should know one's competition? Merdon is a VP of Sales. That is not a lobbyist. A friend who was there told me that Mr. Ulman implied that since Merdon heads up Government Sales to the State of Maryland and a Republican is Governor Merdon is some how not working hard - or is hitting up fellow Republicans for easy sales. Hmmm. Pretty bold.
The article did nothing to expand upon the tremendous amount of executive experience Mr. Ulman outlines on his web site .
My friend commented on this as well. Apparantly he runs through his resume pretty quickly and doesn't go into any detail. Well, don't you think that is a lot of executive experience? I think it is and I would like to know more about these positions, what he accomplished, how many direct reports he had, etc.
Now the most impressive sounding part of his curriculum vitae is:
As impressive as they sound must have come with a great deal of responsibility. He should elaborate on his roles and responsibilities in these positions. On the surface they sound great, but I used to be a Petroleum Tranfer Engineer (I pumped gasoline) and a Transportation Specialist (I sold cars).
I wish Mr. Ulman would dispell the suspicion that he is fluffing up his resume.
This site gets a lot of visitors from State Government. Even the Executive Office of the President of the United States visits (I am honored). Perhaps one of the State employees who visits can post some information on those two positions? I would appreciate it as would my readers.

Before beginning his law practice, Ken interned in the White House and then worked for the Clinton/Gore 96 campaign, serving in many capacities, such as: Western Iowa Field Director and Wyoming State Director. Ken worked for the Presidential Inaugural Committee and later worked for the State of Maryland.
First, Ken worked in the Office of the Secretary of State in the Charities Division and then in Intergovernmental Affairs, serving as a liaison to local governments and municipalities across Maryland. Later, Ken served as the Governor’s Director of the Board of Public Works and Special Projects, as well as Secretary of the cabinet.

I confess to being one of your visitors from Maryland State Government - I have worked here along time and really didn't even know of Mr. Ulman, however I have taken your request research to heart and will make sure that Mr. Merdon is provided with the details of the aforemention political hackery!
I appreciate the comments from the person above. However, I doubt the sincerity of the writer. The post was left at 8:35 PM. During that time the only visitors I have had were from Boston University and a Comcast customer from Mt. Laurel, NJ.
If the writer is sincere I would be interested in learning more about Mr. Ulman's responsibilities. However, if you have anything to share with Mr. Merdon you should contact him via his web site www.merdon.org as I suspect he doesn't read this blog and if he does I would not know.
Oh... by the way. I was contacted by another reader. Their may actually have been a Director of Public Works and Special Projects in the Glendening administration. When I asked if he would be willing to put money on it he said "Not yet. But I may take that bet. Let me get back to you". So, I am waiting to hear.
