Melissa Ridgely Covolesky. State Delegate District 9A?

It will be interesting to see how this develops.

She is a declared candidate. According to her website her campaign account is called "Friends of Melissa Ridgely Covolesky", although the Board of Elections hasn't posted the campaign account on their website.

I understand she is gunning for Warren Miller's seat because he was "appointed" and not elected.

She has put up a very very nice website

www.votemelissa.com

However, their is nothing on the site unless you want to:

1. Read her 12 paragraph 1000 word biography (BTW, Someone should remind her that 9A also represents parts of Eastern Howard County ie Ellicott City, not just Western Howard County)
2. Find out about a few of her favorite things
3. Volunteer
4. Donate money

Issues, and News and Events are blank.

The site refers to her as State Delegate District 9A. Now, I am not sure what she is trying to convey here. It could be unintentionally misleading in that people may believe she is an incumbent. It would be more appropriate to say "Candidate for....". Perhaps she thinks she has legitimate use of the title since Warren Miller was appointed and therefore doesn't deserve the title either? I don't know....

When creating a campaign entity for the purpose of raising funds campaign guidelines state:

A political committee may not use a name that is intended or operates to deceive people as to the political committee's true nature or character.

As far as her campaign entity name "Friends of Melissa Ridgely Covolesky" it clearly does not mislead, but using the term State Delegate District 9A on her web site in the manner she does is seemingly out of context and can confuse the voters.

Lets see if she reconsiders the use of the term.
